Effects of family upbringing on attitude to self in primary school children
(RESUME)

The article presents findings of a study which investigated influence of family upbringing on formation of attitude to self and parents in primary school children with the aim of finding out specific influences of the mother or the father on the child's attitude to self. It has been discovered that self-acceptance or self-denial are determined by the mother's attitude and ways in which she expresses it. At the same time the child's self-acceptance is linked to the acceptance of the respective parent - of the mother, if the child is a girl, and of the father, if the child is a boy. Acceptance of the parent of the same sex does not depend on the kind of upbringing the parent realizes, but acceptance of the parent of the opposite sex is linked to the style of upbringing they represent.
