Child's attachment to mother and self-image in early childhood

N.N. Avdeeva

The correlation between such parameters as attachment specificity, the level of child's self-image development, mother's self-image, mother's evaluation of her attachment to the child and her subjective evaluation of child's attachment to her is shown. It is demonstrated that child's high level of self-image development corresponds to more pronounced independence. The mothers of such children are characterized by high level of self-image, strong attachment to a child which they judge to be stronger than child's attachment to mother. On the contrary, children with low level of self-image demonstrate affective, non-stable attachment to mother, and their mothers are characterized by lower self-evaluation and judge their attachment to a child to be weaker that child's attachment to them.

A.I. Dontsov, T.G. Stefanenko, Zh.T. Outalieva

It has been found that the level of competence in ethnic and «foreign» language and the degree of its coincidence with verbal behavior influence contents and manifestation of ethnic identity. High competence in native language and low one in foreign (Russian) language result in mono-ethnical identity accompanied by marked inter-group favoritism. The continuity and dynamics in genetic and environmental influences were examined by means of development model of data processing. The results show that genetic influences persist during this age interval and greatly gain in relative importance. Shared family background influences IQ in early childhood but their relative importance becomes smaller. Unique environment manifests itself age-specifically and accounts for about a quarter of total variance of IQ in both 5- and 7-year old twins.
