The main features of the current state of the problem of perfectionism in national and international psychology and the most promising lines of further research, focusing on psychological and clinical studies of the role of perfectionism in emergence and course of somatic and psychological illnesses are reviewed. The paper also describes methods of studying perfectionism and problems arising in the course of their application.
