Macropsychology as a new area of psychological research
(RESUME)

The authors argue that theoretical and applied psychology play a far less significant role in Russia today than they ought to have done. Seeing the cause of the latter in insufficient social relevance of psychological science, its non-involvement in solving cardinal problems of our society, the authors put forward quantitative macropsychology, oriented towards quantitative appraisal of the psychological state of the society, discovering dynamics of that state and its links to social and economic processes. The authors cite data on the psychological state of modern day Russian society which, in the authors' opinion, point to the necessity of revising its strategic goals.
