The paper analyzes the current state of the problem of prejudice in Western psychology and the most promising approaches to treating it. The authors suggest criteria for classifying the key approaches to conceptualization of the phenomenon and methodology of its investigation. The authors define new individual psychological characteristics of a prejudiced person, analyze methods of studying prejudice and problems arising out of their application.
