Living metaphors of meaning
(RESUME)

The author treats meaning not as a notion, but as a cultural concept. To argue his point on usefulness of metaphors in psychology, he refers to L.S. Vygotsky's opinion that all words in psychology are nothing but metaphors. The author also presents a series of metaphors of meaning belonging to E. Husserl, M. Veber, G.G. Shpet, M.M. Bakhtin, poets A. Belyi, O.E. Mandelshtam, I.A. Brodski.
