Psychological nature of literature
(RESUME)

The author raises the problem of relation of psychology to fiction, discussing the major scientific psychological approaches to literature. In the author's opinion, psychology and fiction have to remain separate entities if literature is to be treated as an object of psychological research or a means of it (an illustration or a method). The author however suggests that literature is not only an object but also a subject of psychology, a carrier of non-scientific psychological knowledge which may explain its effect on the reader.
