The author analyzes a specific class of phenomena in the course of a person's life - individual employment crises (IEC), suggesting a method of analysis and a typology of IEC. An empirical study has revealed that psychological characteristics of the pre-critical phase, ways of going through a crisis and effects of an unsolved crisis on graduates just entering the job market differ from the same in adult employees made redundant.
