The study compares emotional attitudes to the categories of life and death in normal and mentally handicapped adolescents, revealing similarities and disparities in their ideas of life's meaning and death. The author points out the importance of preparing students of special schools to understanding and accepting life and death and offers recommendations on ways of forming an emotional attitude to the values of life and death in mentally handicapped children.
