The paper presents data on adaptive and non-adaptive manifestations of creative activity in addicts compared with non-addicts. The data show that on the average addicts are characterized by a high, but unrealized creative potential. The study conducted looked into sources of constructive and destructive tendencies to taking risks. It has also discovered negative personality sets which may account for formation of a drug addiction.
