Effects of a patient's pchychological characteristics and attitude to illness on the process of medical treatment
(RESUME)

A study was conducted to look into physical and social factors accompanying psoriasis, as well as into influence of psychological characteristics on the effect of medical treatment. The study has discovered significance of such factors as fear of passing the illness on to the next generation of the family, communication problems due to fear of infection on the part of other people, choice of clothes concealing the rash. The effect of the treatment is determined by the clinical form of the illness, as well as by the patient's attitude to the treatment, which necessitates the doctor's taking into account not only the medical aspect, but also psychological and social factors.
