The author presents a holistic approach to the study of man based on a notion of essential characteristics of man and a system of so-called basic foundations of personality embodying these essential characteristics and determining diversity of human psychological traits and their functioning in different spheres. The theoretical foundations of the approach have been realized in numerous studies carried out by the author, her colleagues and pupils.
