The author argues importance of studying developmental and sociocultural aspects of anxiety in the period of transition from childhood to adulthood. The article reviews theoretical and empirical data on anxiety and fear of death in adolescents, analyzing ethical, instrumental and theoretical problems of studying fear of death. The author also presents findings of an empirical study of the levels and factor structure of the phenomenon in schoolchildren and students of the Far East aged 15-20 years.
