Interrelation of gender stereotypes and life values as factors affecting the choice of profession
(RESUME)

The author analyzes interrelation of basic life values and gender stereotypes in students of different specialities (476 subjects). Emergence of new priorities can be observed in female students alongside with preservation of traditional male and female life values in students of either sex. The ratio of male and female psychological characteristics is also affected by the choice of profession. The observed link between gender priorities in life values and the profile of masculine/feminine characteristics determined by the choice of profession may signify that modern sociocultural stereotypes encourage development in women of a new outlook on life values and, consequently, to the broadening of the range of professions to be chosen by women.
