Psychological meaning of a historical crisis (An attempt at historical psychoanalysis)
(RESUME)

The author presents his own view of the current crisis of Russian psychology and ways of overcoming it, putting forward a conception according to which the only internationally recognized Russian psychological school - that of Vygotsky - was based on the theory of K.Marx's materialist monism and cannot be adequately interpreted outside of the logic of that theory. Rejection of that logic is equal to rejection of the theoretical heritage of the cultural-activity school. As other psychological schools had no historical roots in Russia, this rejection will exclude national academic psychology from the scientific process for many years. Considering the increased interest in the world towards the ideas of the cultural-activity school, the author views the above prospect as highly irrational.
