The paper discusses different kinds of links between positive and negative emotions with regard to development of an individual as a subject. On the basis of the general model of non-linear heterochronous dynamics of emotions in the process of an individual's development as the subject of activity two special models have been developed: the U-model and the W-model. The first is derived from the shape of the curves making up the general model, the second is derived from the curves showing dynamics of the ambivalence and balance of emotions.
