A mystery of creative understanding (Towards the centenary of D. B. Elkonin)
(RESUME)

The author analyzes a seeming paradox: D.B. Elkonin presented his new understanding of L.S. Vygotsky's cultural historical psychology as a mere attempt to understand his teacher's initial conception. The paper also discusses D.B. Elkonin's contribution to the development of cultural historical psychology and emergence of psychology as an objective science studying man's subjective world.
