The paper discusses psychological effects on personality of destructive cults; personality characteristics and situational contexts facilitating the impact of "pseudo-religions". The author describes principal mechanisms of consciousness manipulation employed by destructive cults, analyzing possible psychological consequences of pseudo-religious practices, their effect on the minds and health of the adepts.
