How to choose the convenient form for a child starting school
(RESUME)

The author analyses two approaches to student development in the process of instruction: traditions of L.S. Vygotsky's psychological school and S.L. Rubinstein's theory of activity, singling out in either approach conditions favourable for effective development of students and arguing the importance of using those conditions as criteria for making right choice of form for a child in the existing system of multi-level education.
