School problems of gifted children
(RESUME)

The paper is a survey of modern international literature on problems of gifted children whose high cognitive ability conflicts with their relatively low school achievement, i.e. on the so-called "underachievers" and "gifted learning disabled". Considerable attention is paid to causes of the problems that gifted children experience at school, ways of overcoming them in comparison with traditional approaches to correcting poor school performance.
