Psychological peculiarities, emotions and values in beggars
(RESUME)

A study of emotions and values in beggars has revealed that begging brings about considerable changes in all spheres of mental life. Emotionally beggars are quite often depressed with pronounced suicidal intentions. Beggars are characterized by the unconscious rejection of self and a negative connotation of the self-image, their values are depleted, but family identity remains meaningful. Begging is a powerful stress factor and beggars do not usually succeed in adapting them-selves to the situation.
