One of the main problems in appraising the impact of art on a person is absence of any criteria apart from personal taste. The latter however has nothing to do with science. The article is an attempt to overcome confusion in notions of forms and mechanisms of the psychological effect of art by means of suggesting a classification of types of artistic impact.
