Self-confidence as a prerequisite of subjecthood
(RESUME)

The paper analyses one aspect of faith linked to a person's activity. Analysis of the psychological content of concepts of faith and confidence allows one to discover mechanisms and regularities of mastering the culture within which a human being can acquire his/her generic human content and at the same time remain an autonomous subject of his/her own life. The author puts forward the idea that self-confidence, being a relatively self-contained phenomenon of personality, is one of the essential pre-conditions for activity and subjecthood of a person.
