Motherhood and general aspects of its studies in psychology
(RESUME)

Studies of motherhood in psychology and neighboring sciences are reviewed. Two basic approaches are outlined: Motherhood as a means of child's development and motherhood as a part of woman's personality sphere. Culture-historic, biologic (etologic, physiologic, comparative psycho-biologic), psychologic (phenomenologic, psycho-therapeutic, psychologic-pegagogic) aspects of motherhood studies are considered in the framework of the first approach. Motherhood as a stage in poly-age-specific identification, deviant motherhood, ontogenic characteristics are considered in the framework of the second approach. The author argues that the psychology of motherhood is a special domain in psychology.
