Paper presents review of modern notions on correlation of social and personality identity. Views of adepts of social identity theory, social representations theory and symbolic interactionism are examined. Frequent absence of unity of opinions concerning this question even within the frameworks of one and the same theoretical trend is stated. Modern empirical investigations of a given problem are analyzed. Evolution of views on the problem of correlation of social and personality identity beginning with their opposition up to their flexible combination is discussed.
