The article is based on the report to the National symposium on Moral Education of the Pre-School Age Children (Goteiba, Japan, August 8-10, '1988). An attempt has been made to link the experimental research on visual perception in the children of the pre-school age with the cultural historic theory of Vygotsky. This link is described against the background of some fragments taken from the painting history.
