Factor analysis of a wide range of subjective dimensions of mental imagery makes it possible to single out three independent characteristics: vividness (liveliness), controllability, and brightness. The authors correlate their data with other psychological dimensions of men. It is assumed that the results obtained in the study can be instrumental both in elaboration of a multidimensional classification of mental imagery and in better understanding of the nature and functions of man's representational mechanisms.
