The complex structure of social and psychological factors responsible for the choice of an occupation by a school-leaver is considered. Effect of the social-occupational status of parents on life-plans of senior school-children is analyzed; some trends in the occupational interests of youth and underlying them needs and quests are described. Some recommendations are given to teachers and school psychologists as to how to increase efficiency of the occupation-orientational work in school.
