Acquisition of the capacity for mediated solving of problems and development in children of cognitive abilities
(RESUME)

Results of a longitudinal study which has proved that preschool children develop their cognitive skills and abilities as a consequence of acquisition of the capacity for mediated solving of cognitive problems are presented. Basic types of the acquisition, as they develop in the pre-school childhood, are presented, as well as regularities of their formation and possibilities of control over the process on the part of adults.
